This Privacy Policy explains how Amit Shrivastava ("the Publisher," "we," "us," "our"), operating Panna News (the "Portal") as a subscriber of the MOJO Network, collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit the Portal at pannanews.com, use our mobile or messaging services, subscribe to our newsletters, or otherwise interact with us.
This Policy is published in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), and other applicable Indian laws.
Data Fiduciary: The Publisher acts as the Data Fiduciary for personal data collected directly through the Channel.
Data Processor: Seagull Venture Private Limited, as the technology provider of the MOJO Network, acts as a Data Processor on behalf of the Publisher for hosting, AI-assisted processing, analytics, and similar platform services.
Joint Controllership: In limited circumstances (for example, MOJO Network platform-wide analytics or fraud prevention), the Publisher and Seagull Venture may act as joint controllers. In such cases, each party is responsible for compliance within its own remit.
a. Information You Provide
- • Name, email address, mobile number, and password when you register for an account, subscribe to newsletters, or sign up for WhatsApp updates;
- • Profile information such as display name, profile picture, and city;
- • Content you submit, including comments, news tips, photographs, videos, and survey responses;
- • Billing information (name, billing address, GSTIN where applicable) where you make a payment, donation, or purchase. Payment-card data is collected directly by our payment-gateway partners; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
b. Information Collected Automatically
- • Device information such as device type, operating system, browser type and version, language settings, and screen size;
- • Log information such as IP address, access times, pages viewed, articles read, time spent, and referring URLs;
- • Approximate location based on IP address (used for delivering hyper local content);
- • Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (see Section 8 below).
c. Information from Third Parties
- • Information from social-media platforms when you log in using social sign-on or interact with our pages;
- • Analytics data from providers such as Google Analytics or comparable services;
- • Data from advertising partners about ad delivery, viewability, and conversions (in aggregated or pseudonymised form).
We use personal data for the following purposes, each with a defined lawful basis under the DPDP Act:
- • To provide the service (performance of service): operating the Portal, delivering articles, enabling comments, processing subscriptions and payments.
- • To personalise content (consent / legitimate use): suggesting relevant local news, location-based stories, and recommended reads.
- • To communicate with you (consent): sending newsletters, breaking-news alerts, WhatsApp updates, and responses to your queries.
- • To improve and secure the Portal (legitimate use): analytics, error monitoring, abuse prevention, fraud detection, and security investigations.
- • To comply with law (legal obligation): responding to lawful requests from authorities, retaining records as required, and meeting regulatory obligations.
- • To deliver and measure advertising (consent where required): showing relevant ads and measuring their effectiveness.
Where the DPDP Act requires consent, we obtain it through clear, specific, informed, free, and unambiguous opt-in mechanisms (for example, checkboxes at registration, separate opt-ins for marketing emails, and consent banners for non-essential cookies). You may withdraw your consent at any time using the contact details in Section 13. Withdrawal will not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal.
In limited circumstances, we may rely on "legitimate uses" recognised under the DPDP Act, such as security, fraud prevention, and compliance with law.
The Portal is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without verifiable parental consent. We do not track children's behaviour for advertising. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data without proper consent, please contact us and we will take prompt corrective action.
We share personal data only as described below:
- • Service providers and processors: Seagull Venture (MOJO Network platform), cloud hosting providers, email and SMS service providers, payment gateways, analytics partners, and customer-support tools. These parties are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and to maintain appropriate security.
- • Advertising partners: Aggregated or pseudonymised data for ad targeting and measurement. We do not sell personal data.
- • Legal and regulatory authorities: Where required by Indian law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Publisher, our users, or the public.
- • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the protections described in this Policy.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this Policy, to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, and to resolve disputes. Typical retention periods include:
- • Account data: while the account is active, plus up to 3 years after closure;
- • Comments and User Content: while the related article remains published, unless removed earlier;
- • Billing and tax records: as required under Indian tax and corporate law (typically 8 years);
- • Server logs and analytics: typically 12 to 24 months in identifiable form, after which data is aggregated or deleted.
When personal data is no longer required, it is securely deleted, anonymised, or archived in accordance with applicable law.

- • Request correction, completion, or update of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- • Request erasure of personal data that is no longer necessary or that you withdraw consent for, subject to legal exceptions;
- • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent;
- • Nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity;
- • File a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see Section 13) and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if not satisfied.
To exercise any of these rights, contact the Grievance Officer named in Section 13. We will verify your identity before acting on any request and respond within the timelines required by law.
Some of our service providers may store or process data on servers located outside India. Such transfers are made only to jurisdictions and entities permitted under the DPDP Act, and we put in place reasonable contractual safeguards to protect your data. If the Government of India restricts transfers to a particular country or class of countries, we will comply with those restrictions.
The Portal contains links to, and embeds from, third-party websites and services (such as YouTube videos, X / Twitter embeds, maps, and advertisements). Those third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party services.

We will acknowledge your grievance within twenty-four (24) hours and aim to resolve it within fifteen (15) days, in line with the IT Rules and the DPDP Act. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India.
